Advanced Yiddish Seminar 1

Организатор:
YIVO Institute for Jewish Research

YIVO is hosting two advanced Yiddish seminars, conducted in Yiddish. At each seminar a particular topic about the Yiddish language will be discussed on the basis of an article in Yidishe Shprakh, a journal in Yiddish linguistics that YIVO published for many years in New York.

The first seminar will be lead by Itsik Bleaman, Department of Linguistics, New York University on the article Weinreich, Uriel. 1968. Zayn krank–zayn a kranker: On the syntax of Yiddish adjectives. Yidishe shprakh 28(1): 1-11. Participants should read and print out the articles in advance of the seminar. You can find the article at: www.hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=43595&st=&pgnum=3

Both seminars will take place in the Center for Jewish History, 15 West 16th Street, New York, NY 10011. Students outside New York are invited to participate via Google Hangouts. Please contact Brukhe Lang (bcaplan7@jhu.edu) if you would like to participate.

The second seminar will be held in January 2018. More information to be announced.
