Steeped In History: Museums And Identity

Организатор:
Museum of Jewish Heritage

Join us for «Steeped In History: Museums And Identity,» a conversation with Dr. Lonnie Bunch of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. and Michael Glickman of the Museum of Jewish Heritage — A Living Memorial to the Holocaust in Lower Manhattan.

The two will examine the opportunities and challenges their institutions face as they seek to document and exhibit the epic journeys of two crucial American minority communities. In a conversation moderated by philanthropist David Rubenstein, they will consider the curatorial, political, and financial complexities involved in communicating a people’s story and culture in a brick-and-mortar museum.

Reception and «New York at Its Core» exhibition viewing to follow. Made possible by The David Berg Foundation.

This program is part of our MJH Around Town series. This event is hosted at the Museum of the City of New York.
