Jewish Museum

Learn to screen print on wearable fabric in this two-part workshop, taught by contemporary artist Kristen Schiele. Combine image and text to create a powerful statement inspired by socially engaged artwork in the exhibition, «Martha Rosler: Irrespective», using your imagery to print on t-shirts and other textiles.

Kristen Schiele creates bold, immersive and semi-abstract paintings, collages and installations. She holds a BA in Visual Arts from Indiana University and an MFA from the American University in Washington DC. Her works on paper and silkscreen graphic novel are in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art, and she has exhibited at the Torrance Art Museum, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Printed Matter Book Fair at MoMA PS1, and the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. She has been selected for residencies at the Provincetown Work Center, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and the Lower East Side Printshop, among others. Her work has been reviewed in The New York Times, Berliner Morgenpost, The Brooklyn Rail, and Modern Painters. She lives and works in Brooklyn.
