Warsaw Ghetto Memorial

Museum of Jewish Heritage

In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising on April 19, 1943, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene at the Museum of Jewish Heritage will present a special evening featuring alumni of Camp Hemshekh, a Yiddish summer camp created by Holocaust survivors.

Located in the Catskill Mountains, the camp was active from 1959 through 1978. Every summer the campers and counselors commemorated the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising with poetry and songs, and one year this included the construction of a memorial designed by a young Daniel Libeskind.
