Leyenkrayz: Yiddish Reading Group

10 sessions, Tuesdays:
February 5, 12, 19, 26; March 5, 12, 19, 26; April 2, 9

This reading group is designed for those who can comfortably read Yiddish (aloud) or who don’t want to read aloud but can understand Yiddish when it is read to them. We will begin with one or two surprisingly timely (and largely unknown) stories published in the 1880s and 1890s by writers who wrote under the pseudonyms Bas Malke and Izabella. Other readings will depend on the interests of the students.
