Motor City Music examines the melting pot of musical life throughout Detroit. By analyzing the diverse pool (Jewish, African American, Southern white) of musical tradition throughout Michigan’s capital, Slobin masterfully combines scholarship, interviews, and archival sources to craft a cohesive picture of the sonic heartbeat of the city.
