Communications Coordinator

Job Objective: This position supports the Communications department on the development and implementation of communications and marketing strategies, with an emphasis on digital and social media.

The primary responsibilities for the Communications Coordinator position are to manage and grow the Museum’s social media; assist Communications staff with drafting, refining, and editing copy; and managing production of printed and electronic materials including a regular schedule of email marketing, printed bi-monthly calendars, and the creation of various print and digital collateral materials, invitations, and other marketing materials.

Responsibilities:

Help lead content creation across all of the Museum’s social media platforms, growing the Museum’s presence across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Edit public program videos and upload them to YouTube.
Manage the Museum’s ongoing digital advertising (Google Ad Words and Facebook).
Update website content using content management system.
Write, edit, and inspire others to create blog posts.
Assist with production of collateral materials – including drafting, reviewing, and editing copy and designs for bi-monthly calendars, invitations and e-vites, postcards, flyers, and other materials to be determined.
Oversee schedule, creation, trafficking, and distribution of all advertisements, including those created in-house as well as working with designers to achieve products in keeping with Museum standards.
Create email marketing materials using the EMMA.
Run database queries to produce mailing lists.
Search collections database for images and artifacts and work with the Collections and Exhibitions Department to confirm rights and usage.
Maintain Museum’s media archive.
Provide Communications representation at Museum events.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

College degree with two to three years of work experience.
Background in communications, marketing, or non-profit field.
Excellent writing skills.
Experience working with a range of social media.
Experience creating, targeting and managing advertising on social media platforms.
Proficient in using an email marketing system (such as EMMA, Constant Contact, etc.).
Creative self-starter with strong organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively.
Ability to handle multiple, time-sensitive tasks simultaneously.
Proficient in video editing, especially for distribution on social media.
Experience working with graphic designers and printers a plus.
Knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign a plus.
